This is a raw, rough landscape riven by storms & legends. Crowned by the legendary Tintagel headland on the atmospheric North Cornish Coast
We will walk through the ruins of the medieval castle, the mythological site of King Arthur’s conception. If the weather’s bad we can spend more time in the Old Post Office, St Materiana’s Church, the masonic King Arthur’s Halls or the otherworldly Witchcraft Museum in neighbouring Boscastle; if the weather’s good we can descend the Rocky Valley to see ancient labyrinths carved into the rock, ascend for a cliff walk perhaps or through the woods to see St Nectan’s waterfall through a hale in the rock…
There’s nowhere quite like this area: the combination of spooky dark rock and slate buildings, layer upon layer of archaeology and myth, craggy cliffs & cultural oddities endlessly fascinates me and I’m sure that if you’ve the legs &/or the stomach to really get involved, you’ll find stories & imagery round here that are uniquely memorable.
Tour Itinerary
Your precise itinerary will depend on your timing & interests, & most particularly the weather as Tintagel Castle in particular is very exposed to the elements and closes when the wind gets up. We’ll stop for refreshments at a historic pub, pasty shop or cafe/restaurant as preferred.
